  Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide

Since it was so undoubtedly easy for Neverwinter Nights to take my breath away. I was extremely excited to get a taste of its first expansion, Shadows of Undrentide. I couldn’t wait to see what the folks at BioWare were serving up.

The story begins in a distant land, far from the plague of Neverwinter. There exists a land where you and your fellow students learn from your master, Drogan. This land is called Undrentide. When your master is killed in an ambush and his precious artifacts stolen, it is up to you and your fellow students to begin the search. What these artifacts do is unbeknownst to you, but as his last dying wish, you carry out your masters’ instructions. This being the first expansion pack of Never Winter Nights, I was pretty excited to see the new tile sets in place as well as learn of a new henchmen inventory option. The inventory option will allow you to access your henchmen’s inventory and take or give him/her whatever you see fit. A very valuable option that fans cried out for after Neverwinter hit the shelves. However this time around, you’ll only be able to carry a total three different henchmen. It’s a closer nit group and each henchperson has his/her own personality. The tile sets all look extremely attractive, and I’m not sure which of the three I like the best. While the winter world tile seems to give a cool glaze over everything, the desert tile set, plagued with its different insect-like beasts won me over. Even though it seems like three tile sets might not seem like a lot, you’ll be happy to see how creative the developers were. As in Neverwinter, there are some very eye-opening environments. With the addition of these three different tile sets, it gives also gives players more options when creating their own world via the Aurora toolset. I was very happy to find out that you and your colleagues will be able to fight along side in Undrentide as you once did in Never Winter Nights. With what could be over 25+ hours of game play, dozens of new monsters, and more side quests to boot, Shadows of Undrentide brings the same intensity, role playing, story telling, attention grabbing game play as it’s predecessor. Those who loved Neverwinter Nights, get ready, because Shadows of Undrentide will open your eyes once more. - Click here for ToTheGame's Game Info - Click here for screenshots
